Drunken Truth

This one is Lee Beom Soo’s version sang at a campfire when he was playing on “On Air”.

What do you think? I’m crazy about Lee Beom Soo this month haha ^o^

Just yesterday, my old friend came to give me some souvenirs.

He’s not an ordinary friend I must say. He got this big birthmark on his face, and to make it worse, that birthmark grows. People call this handicap, or flaw. I call it disadvantage. When I was in junior high, because of his disadvantage, he’s a regular object of jokes, harsh jokes sometimes, and that’s not the worse part. He used to be ignored or shunned by his peers at school.Whenever there’s a group discussion, group work, basketball or baseball game, he would find it hard to get accepted in a group. Yes, “normal” people don’t like to interact with “different” people.

When I thought of it and I felt pity for him, random words flying in my mind.

With disadvantages, he gains strength.

Pain has made him invulnerable.

Who are you to pity him?

He’s stronger, wealthier, and fight more fiercely than you.

What you’ve done once, he has done it twice.

He’s better than anyone.

It is you who should do more effort.

So that you won’t be ashamed when you meet him in front of you when the game is over and he asked:

“Didn’t you take early start?”

Avatar and Anton

this post was buried long time ago

In 2154, the RDA corporation is mining Pandora, a lush, Earth-like moon of the planet Polyphemus, in the Alpha Centauri system. Parker Selfridge, the administrator, employs former marines as mercenaries to provide security. The humans aim to exploit Pandora’s reserves of a valuable mineral called unobtanium (unobtainable titanium :p).

Pandora is inhabited by the Na’vi, a paleolithic species of sapient humanoids with feline characteristics. Physically stronger and several feet taller than humans, the blue-skinned savage indigenous live in their sacred forest worshiping demon spirit called Eywa. The same forest where large deposit of unobtanium rest below.

Humans have tried to establish diplomatic relation. They learn Na’vis’s language, culture, and have been trying negotiating endlessly. However, the Na’vis still refused to move from their forest.

And a crippled man come and a wish and a wuss and a whoop happens. So, war happens. Na’vis with animals and nature power versus humans with their great power of destruction (you’ve seen human race capabilities of killing and destroying in real world, now imagine it has gotten even more effective and efficient) consists of planes, choppers, big robots, big tractors, and a hell lot of firepower. But Na’vis won the war, yes, the movie makers want it that way.

Of course many people would say Avatar is a great movie. But Anton has a great disagreement  with the movie.

I am a man, human, earthling. I am defender of humanity, the inhabitants of Earth, and the interest of human race. As human, my top priority is my kind, that’s my opinion. But Avatar seems to have another idea, which is “we should protect blue monkeys”. I see Na’vi-s as nothing more but animals. When the interest of human collides with the interest of anything beside human, than human’s interest must be the top priority. So, am I an anti-Greenpeace? Or a pro-global-warming? No, not at all. Since I told you that human is number one, then protecting earth and it’s inhabitants is also compulsory. The balance of nature on earth sustains our life. Wild logging, crazy mining, monstrous polluting, etc, they are threats to our life, that’s why we must stop them for our own good. But, when there’s another planet out there, which destruction will not affect our lives, why should we restrain ourselves?  If a valuable mineral buried below an old tree and blue monkeys living there, let’s just evict them. We can just put the blue monkeys on a zoo, turn the tree into woods for bonfire, none of it is wrong for me. And when the blue monkeys refuse to go, let’s just kill them all. Do we feel anything when we kill some mosquitoes? Please don’t overreact. The are not our equal.

The second disagreement is about the main protagonist. Avatar promotes him as a hero. For me, he’s a traitor. It is in our basic principle that loyalty, respect, and trust are values we uphold and pass to our children. Avatar gives a wrong message. A traitor kills his own brothers-in-arms just because he loves a blue monkey. He should be the main antagonist.

Conclusion: Avatar is not good for our mind.

The good thing is: Avatar lost Academy Award for Best Picture to Hurt Locker.  ^^

McDonald’s Game

You’ll discover all the secrets that made us one of the biggest company of the world!

So, I was browsing Newgrounds for some flash games, and I found this interesting flash game about McDonald’s made by Molleindustria. It was a tycoon series kind of game, but you play as a McDonald Grand Manager. Making money in a corporation like McDonald’s is not simple at all! Behind every sandwich there is a complex process you must learn to manage: from the creation of pastures to the slaughter, from the restaurant management to the branding. I found this game very hard to win: you got many areas to cover, problems show up now and then, those stockholders just want growth and growth (while maintaining profit is harder than you think), and those grillmen just can’t get satisfied with their pay. And when I have my McDonald’s runs in a stable growth, the farming areas got polluted (because of my exploit) and no longer usable!

Btw, you have options to use dirty tricks to make profit, ranging from injecting hormone to your cows, to corrupting politician. You’re the man! (As long as you got more and more money)

At first, you just want to grow and make enough money, than you realized that you have to make even more money to make sure the stockholders got satisfied, than you realized that more investment and more money you make resulting in a bigger cost, so you have to make more and more money, and more money, and more money, and more money, and finally all of your effort to make money will make McDonald’s bankrupt (even the dirty tricks won’t help anymore). Yeah, you inevitably will get fired.
